Fighting For South Louisiana’s Coast
Should taxpayers have to pay for the damages made by Big Oil along our coast?
The parishes of Jefferson and Plaquemines believe Big Oil should pay for the damages they caused, not the taxpayers! Jefferson and Plaquemines have taken the fight to Big Oil by filing lawsuits that require Big Oil to clean up specific damage sites. For these parishes, their message is simple: Big Oil must pay to clean up their mess! Taxpayers should NOT be saddled with the millions or even billions of dollars to clean up Big Oil’s mess.
Now, it’s time for other coastal parishes to make the decision: will these parishes make their taxpayers pay for Big Oil’s mess or will Big Oil be required to pay for what they have done?
It’s that simple!
Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary, St. Bernard and Vermillion parishes now must make the decision to join Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes in filing the lawsuits to protect their taxpayers by making Big Oil pay for the specific damages done in these parishes. Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary, St. Bernard and Vermillion parishes must make the decision to clean up their coast! It’s time. In fact, it’s long past time these parishes act!
